THE COLLECTION · IN THE ARTIST’S WORDS

Visionary Jewellery

Visionary Jewellery grew from an experiment with a fantasy gemstone: an imagined stone in which colour, light and intricate detail could come together in ways I wanted to explore further. Developing that idea opened up a larger possibility. The gemstone could become the starting point for a whole sculptural composition.

My explorations of jewelled eggs, inspired by Fabergé and the visual language of Cartier, brought attention to the relationships between precious surfaces, ornament and form. I wanted to carry that intricacy into other subjects and give the imagination more room. How far could I take the sense of craftsmanship? What might happen when a jewelled object began to contain a landscape, a creature or an entire imagined world?

This first work brings that possibility into view. A many-coloured globe rests within crystal petals. Gold spirals carry coloured stones around miniature towers, while curved stairways and waterfalls connect the spaces below. Each part contributes to the larger form, but also offers something to discover close up: a reflection inside a facet, a delicate border, the meeting of water and architecture.

I develop these works digitally, using AI-assisted image making alongside close inspection and targeted refinement. The atelier spirit is in that process of returning to the image, examining its smallest parts and making deliberate choices about what needs more care.

As Visionary Jewellery develops, I want to explore animals, natural scenes and unexpected combinations of forms. The work will become more technically demanding as I investigate movement, material depth and increasingly complex structures. Experimentation will shape where it goes; maintaining coherence and convincing detail will remain part of the challenge.

I see the collection evolving alongside two areas of possibility. As AI and creative tools become more capable, I want to use them to attempt forms, levels of detail and visual experiments that are difficult to achieve today. Alongside that, developments in printing methods, fine-art papers and surface finishes may offer new ways to carry the imagined richness of gemstones, crystal and gold into the physical print. I want to explore how those materials can give the work greater depth, presence and impact.

The collection will grow through that relationship between imagination, digital development and physical presentation. Each new possibility will need testing and artistic judgement: what matters is how well it serves the work.

With each new piece, I want to attempt something I couldn’t achieve in the last—to give an idea a more intricate form, a stronger presence, or an unexpected life of its own. Visionary Jewellery is the space I’m creating for that exploration, with the care of an atelier and the freedom to imagine what might come next.

This first work gives those ambitions a form: a jewelled world that invites you to look closer and discover something within it. As the collection grows, I want each new work to carry that same care into more adventurous territory. Visionary Jewellery is my space to follow those possibilities, while giving every detail the attention it deserves.
