The Confidence Within

I wanted to give quiet confidence a form: the steady gaze of a lion, the warmth of gold, and a small world that opens gradually to reveal its meaning.

Across the closed shell, curling gold gathers into a flowing mane. Blue and teal labradorite-like panels bring a cool depth between ruby-red and emerald-green accents. Here, red carries vitality and green suggests growth. Their colours lift the gold, while the dark marble brings stillness and weight. A delicate scattering of simulated gold dust, silver particles and glass-like glints settles on chosen raised details, inviting the eye to linger.

Opening the egg brings us closer to the lion itself. Full-bodied, imagined in warm 22-karat gold. Its flanks are satin. The mane, chased strand by strand. Highlights polished. The turn of the head, the fall of the shoulders, paws carefully separated, tiny amber eyes. Space is held around it, so its presence can unfold.

Around that space is a midnight-blue lapis interior, a depth I think of as reflection. Behind the lion, a rising sun is engraved in gold. A carnelian line at the horizon brings warmth and vitality, while a slender malachite rim carries growth into the composition, recalling the Tree of Life.

Together, these materials speak of strength taking root through reflection, care and renewal. At the heart of it, the lion remains composed and watchful. I wanted its calm to do the real work, to offer that quiet moment when you realise the ground inside you is firm.
